Visit to Blairs |
|
At the end of March we visited the
beautiful Blairs College and Museum. We had been studying Mary Queen of
Scots and the Catholic and Protestant religions. We really enjoyed this
visit, being allowed to play the organ and then we were treated to a
performance of Star Wars on it! We also got to dress up in period
costumes and saw a portrait of Mary which had been brought here
from France.

Podcast |
|
|
The 'Action' Reading Group were reading a
play called 'Chips Off The Old Block.'
We decided to try turning a Scene from this into the School's first ever
'Podcast'. We recorded ourselves reading the Scene, and a few sound
effects (water, sneezes, running feet and heads being chopped off!)
These were edited together and converted into an MP3 file . The entire
recording lasts about 8mnutes.

We could present this in any way we wanted.
Here are some photos of some of us in action. |

Flapjacks Enterprise |
 |
|
This year P.6 and Mrs. Duncan have been
making and selling Flapjacks, for their Enterprise project. They started
by discussing
what they would do and taking the decision to make Flapjacks. They
picked this because they had a Microwave, could use the Nursery's
oven and they were easy to make and serve.
They split into five teams:
Management
Sales
Accounting
Marketing
Baking.
They all took a hygiene mini course, run by Mrs. Duncan, and had to
apply for the job they wanted.
The teams then made posters, advertisements and estimated how much money
would be spent and how much raised.
All the planning took around four weeks
and they then had two days when they sold flapjacks at lunch time.
They set up the stage for selling and for while the school went flapjack
mad!
They sold 120 the first week and 225 the second week. Each flapjack was
sold for 20p and they made £49 profit.
They all had lots of fun as well as
learning a lot about a business and working as a team. The rest of the
school enjoyed their flapjacks too, as you can see below.

German Assembly |
|
P.6 did a German assembly on Friday 21st
November. They sang two songs in German, told us lots of interesting
facts about Germany and did a Christmas play in German.
P.6 are taught German by Mrs. McHattie. They performed really well and 'ja'
it was good!
