Sports Week!

It was an incredibly active week for Primary 6!   On Tuesday we took part with other classes in the Potted Sports events. Everyone contributed to their school house team and earned valuable points!

On Wednesday we took part in the traditional Sports Day activities up at the field where we competed in the flat race, egg and spoon, bean bag and jumping races. The afternoon ended with a relay race to bring a close to proceedings.

On Thursday, Primary 6 showed what good role models they are by helping out at the nursery Sports Day and then competing in a school long distance race. If that wasn’t enough, we went to Hazlehead Academy in the afternoon to take part in the ASG Games alongside neighbouring schools. Everyone represented the school with distinction and should be proud of their efforts.

Primary 6 have engaged with ‘Our Scientific World’  this week an have been learning about electricity. We had great fun making our own electric circuits and learning about conductors and insulators!

We had some very good news this week. Primary 6 finished 2nd in the city wide Euro Quiz. Well done everyone.

Euro Quiz

Primary 6 have been testing their knowledge on Europe in the National  Euro Quiz.  There are over 500 Primary Schools and 3,700 pupils taking part. The children have been learning about European history, geography, culture and languages to name but a few.

Four members of P6 and a reserve have qualified for the Aberdeen Heats Final on March 30th. As a class, we have been increasing our skills on teamwork and research throughout. Increased confidence, knowledge and communication have been other benefits of being involved in this initiative.

Primary 6A would like to send a BIG thank you to the School Parent Council who have kindly given all P6 pupils their own sketchbook.

As part of our IDL on The Jacobites, we have been creating our own tartans and exploring how fabrics would have been dyed all those years ago.

Here are some examples of our work. We have included watercolour tartan designs, digitally created tartans and some examples of cotton fabrics we dyed in class.

We are looking forward to adding more to our sketchbooks over the next two years!
