After the rain all weekend it was very muddy in the messy garden. We loved getting messy playing in the mud – digging, splashing, making mud balls, making mud angels and lots more!
We had great fun at our Pumpkin Party. Some of us dressed up, we played party games in the hall, we had party food, made spider pictures, tried to eat a doughnut off of a string and some of us even decided to put on a spooky show.
This week we have started to use our woodwork table and resources. We have been learning how to use the different tools and learning how to keep ourselves and our friends safe whilst using the woodwork tools.
Our dark den
We received funding to buy a dark den and lights which we have now received. We followed instructions to build our dark den tent and to fill up our bubble tube. We have loved going inside the tent and watching all the lights.
We have set up a curiosity box in nursery. This time our curiosity box contains science related objects. Our favourite objects have been space related – a telescope and some little astronauts. We have practised using the telescope, learnt that it is used to look at stars and planets, dressed as astronauts, built space rockets, created stories with the rockets small world toys, looked at books about the solar system and even made our own telescopes.
We made some delicious vegetable soup with some of the vegetables we collected from our garden.
We dug up our vegetables that we have been growing in our garden. We found radishes, potatoes and carrots. Here are some of our suggestions of what we can do with our vegetables….
”cook them and eat them” – Lily
”we should make vegetable soup” – Angus
”cut them and eat them” – Aliyah
”make chips!” – Maison
First week at nursery
We have been enjoying being back at nursery and meeting our new friends.
We loved our trip to the park with P6 this morning!
Well done to everyone for taking part in our Sports Day. Thank you to to all friends and family who came to watch and cheer us on!
We have loved playing outside in the warm weather this week. We have planted strawberry plants in our garden, continued to care for our seeds and potatoes, had picnic snacks in the messy garden, found ladybirds, made pies in the mud kitchen, built towers and climbed into tyres, played on the wooden play equipment, built dens and and lots more!
We got very messy making and playing with gloop this week. While playing with the gloop we realised it could be rolled into a ball but when you stopped moving it, it began to melt!
This week we planted some wildflower seeds at the messy garden. We hope these attract wildlife such as butterflies and bees to the messy garden. We also built two greenhouses and have planted some tomatoes and herbs to put in them. We planted potato seeds in our nursery garden and we are looking forward to planting some more fruit and vegetables for us to grow.
We have been loving singing and dancing on our new stage in nursery.
Easter Egg Hunt
We followed footprints to the messy garden where we found clues from the Easter bunny. We worked together to follow the clues that led us to some Easter eggs!
Thank you to everyone who sponsored us for our Scoot-a-thon. We had a great time riding around the course that was set up in the playground. So far we have raised over £1200 for nursery resources – wow!! Thank you!
Spanish Songs and Stories
Thank you to Gabriela and Miguel’s mum for reading us a story and singing us some songs in Spanish during her Stay and Play. Click on the link to see Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star sung in English and then in Spanish. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EAHPEYo4udg&feature=youtu.be
We have been reading some traditional tales in nursery. So far we have read The Little Red Hen, Chicken Licken, Goldilocks and the Three Bears and The Three Little Pigs. We have been using story stones, puppets, costumes, props, small world toys and drawing pictures to retell the story to our friends. Primary One have also been to read us stories using puppets and actions. Thank you P1!
Thank you to Luca’s mum for singing some traditional Brazilian songs with us during her Stay and Play. It’s great to celebrate the different languages we have in our nursery.
World Book Day
We enjoyed celebrating World Book Day in nursery. Some of us dressed up as our favourite book character. We loved going to the Book Swap to chose a new book and even got to read stories with P4.
We loved watching our chicks hatch from their eggs. After they hatched we moved them out of the incubator and made sure they had food and water to help them grow. We even got to hold the chicks! They felt so soft. Our chicks have now been collected and are off to live on a farm.
Our Chicks are Hatching…!!
The nursery received a delivery of 10 Living Eggs on Monday. We have been watching them closely to see if there are any signs of the chicks hatching. We have been looking at the poster which tells us how to look after the eggs and chicks, and shows us what will happen to our eggs. We are all very excited to meet the chicks!
