Oor Wullie visited our class and we learned about the school values and designed how we think he should look.

Term 3

We have had an exciting and busy term. We learnt about Robert the Bruce and William Wallace at the start of Term 3.

  • We learnt Gaelic with the help of Mrs Battersby (Charlotte’s Mum)
  • We transformed our classroom into a castle and role played being Lord and Lady
  • We learnt Scots with local expert Sheena Blackhall and wrote some fantastic Scots poetry just like Robert Burns
  • We took part in the Burns Day ceilidh and performed the Flying Scotsman for the school
  • We wrote our own non-fiction books filled with lots of different information we had to research

We are now reading ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ by Roald Dahl. So far we have:

  • incorporated design and measure by creating our own chocolate bars that had to add up to a certain weight
  • used clay to create monsters from Loompa Land
  • made chocolate play-doh to spell our words for the week
  • played in a Wonka Sweet Shop filled with salt dough sweeties we made in class
  • had a story-teller in for World Book Day
  • learnt about mathematical factors by helping Willy Wonka create different shaped chocolate bars
  • retold the beginning of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to P1 and P2
