P2 class timetable
Homework due Tuesday 24th March 2020
This week we have learning to read and write words with the sound –
‘ea’ words – moons & ‘ou’ words – stars.
Have a go at reading and writing a selection of the following words from their group and common words. Complete an activity from the spelling grid that is at the front of your homework jotter.
|Stars – count, house, round, outside||found, wish, men|
|Moons – speak, clean, team, steal||eat, myself, them|
If you do not have a copy of the spelling grid, please see below.
Borrow some shaving foam and write your spelling words in the foam.
‘Pyramid write’ each of your spelling words.
Write your spelling words out in alphabetical order.
hill, mill, sill, will
Head outside with some chalk or a paint brush and water. Write your spelling words outside and take a photo to stick in your jotter. If you don’t have a camera, get an adult to say you completed the task.
Write out each of your spelling words. Try and think of at least one rhyming word and write it beside it. How many can you get?
Write your spelling words using a different colour for each letter.
Say each spelling word aloud and clap how many syllables are in each word. Which one has the most?
Write sentences for 4 of your spelling words. Can you use a connective in each one?
Continue to research your chosen endangered animal and create your poster. Practice presenting it to someone in your house. To extend this further you could video yourself presenting your talk and then self assess on reflection. When self assessing remember the three things to look for are:
- speaking in a loud and clear voice
- making eye contact with the audience
- enjoying yourself and smiling!
Login to your Mathletics account (information is at the front of your diary). Choose a task to practice from some of the following – identifying numbers to 100, addition, subtraction, doubling and identifying odd/even numbers. There are also games that you could play linked to these areas on the website.
As part of our new IDL ‘Environmental Issues in my World’, we explored the importance of trees. We decided to go outside and look at the trees in our school environment. We then thought it would be a good idea to make some animal homes with the sticks in our playground.
