Dear Parent

You may already be aware that the Children (Equal Protection from Assault) (Scotland) Act 2019 came into effect on November 7th.  This new law, which is often referred to as ‘the Smacking Ban’ makes all physical punishment of children, including any form of smacking, illegal.  Whilst it is not the school’s place or intention to interfere with how parents bring up their children, we felt it right to bring your attention to this important change in the law.
