Good morning,
My name is Sharon Emslie, I am the development coach for Foyer Families working within Aberdeen Foyer.
I wanted to get in touch to let you know about Foyer Families, our free course in Aberdeen City & Aberdeenshire for parents or carers with children aged 12 and under.
The course is delivered in partnership with Nescol and we are now looking for referrals for our next course which starts Tuesday 27th February.
The course is free, and clients will receive access to a laptop, Wi-Fi and childcare where needed. The next course starts on the 27/02/2024 with hours between 9.30 am – 2.30 pm Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
The 16-week course is delivered mostly over Zoom and provides opportunities for learners to gain nationally recognised qualifications.
Participants will have the opportunity to take part in a wide range of activities such as arts, cooking, Tai Chi, mindfulness and yoga. There is also the opportunity of in-person fun days (during the last course we spent the day at Aberdeen Science Centre where the students and their family got the opportunity to try the fun exhibits.)
External organisations host talks throughout the course, providing support in areas such as finance, career advice, further education, and child health/development.
At its core, the course aims to support the whole person, taking a holistic and responsive approach to delivery.
